ARTIST STATEMENT In the 1970s and '80s, JENNIFER ALE, was painting large atmospheric abstracts but since then has worked mostly on paper in printmaking, watercolors and collages. Her work has evolved into moody dreamlike landscapes, a world of mists and gardens and parks. A sole figure, a monumental silhouette, has often emerged within her work, as if placing the viewer within the landscape. Then additional shadowy groups of people have also entered the work, like memories, half forgotten, oflooming figures appearing out of the London fogs of her childhood. |
